William France (1781-1850)

William France was born at Whitehaven in Cumberland. He was intended for Anglican Orders but was converted under Methodist influence as a young man, and accordingly entered the Wesleyan ministry in 1802. His active circuit ministry lasted for forty-four years until poor health compelled him to become a supernumary. He died at Ardrossan in Scotland.
