William Elton (1803-95)

William Elton was born at Shawell near Lutterworth in Leicestershire. He was converted at the age of eighteen and entered the Wesleyan ministry in 1829. Elton enjoyed an active circuit ministry for forty-seven years. He was a powerful preacher with a gift for inspiring revivals. After superannuation in 1877, he took charge of Asbury Chapel in Birmingham.
