Richard Ellison (d.1760)

Richard Ellison was the son of a wealthy Lincolnshire farmer and husband to Susanna Wesley junior. The marriage was very unhappy and the family papers make several references to Ellison's drunkenness and violence, which eventually resulted in the total breakdown of the relationship.

After Ellison squandered his money he moved to London, where he was given financial assistance by John Wesley. Under the influence of his brothers-in-law he was converted to Methodism, but was never apparently reconciled to his wife. He was survived by four children.
