Richard Dillon (b.1759)

Richard Dillon was born in County Antrim, the son of a chandler William Dillon. He was educated at Mr Dubourdieu's school in Lisburn and at Trinity College Dublin. As a young man he joined the Methodists and worked in London with John Wesley, either as a lay preacher or as an ordained Anglican minister. Certainly by 1785 he had been ordained into Anglican orders, and had returned to Ireland where he was working as a tutor to the children of one Dr Leslie. His name then disappears from the historical record.
