Henry Crook (1708-70)

Henry Crook was born on the West Indian island of St Kitts. He was ordained in 1740 and became Vicar of Hunslet near Leeds in 1745. Crook was sympathetic to Methodism and met John Wesley on several occasions. However his objections to the increased gulf between the Methodists and the Church of England, prevented him from pledging full support.
