James Buckley (1772-1839)

James Buckley entered the itinerancy in 1792 and exercised an active circuit ministry until superannuation in 1832. He played an active part in the formation of the first Wesleyan Missionary Auxiliary Society and preached the introductory sermon on that occasion.

Buckley retired to Llanelly in Wales where he died on August 24 1839.
