James Brooke (1790-1881)

James Brooke was born into a Methodist family at Bilston in Staffordshire. He entered the itinerancy in 1812 and exercised an active circuit ministry in England and Wales until superannuation in 1851. His retirement was spent in Manchester where he was still attending worship until a few weeks before his death in the Cheetham Hill district of the city on July 25th 1881.
