John Barritt (1756-1841)

John Barritt was born into a farming family in Lancashire. Barritt's mother was a Methodist and his younger sister Mary was one of the best-known female preachers of the early 19th century. He entered the Wesleyan itinerancy in 1786 and exercised an active circuit ministry in England until superannuation due to old age in 1819. His retirement was spent in Colne, Lancashire.
