Thomas Barnard (1728-1806)

Thomas Barnard was a graduate of Oxford University. He was appointed Bishop of Killaloe in 1780, and of the diocese of Limerick, Ardfert and Aghadoe in 1794. He corresponded regularly with Charles Wesley and took an interest in the musical career of Wesley's sons.

His father William Barnard (1697-1768) as Bishop of Derry, had ordained the Methodist preacher Thomas Maxfield into the Anglican ministry.
