George Ayre (1870-1944)

George Ayre was born in Burnham, Lincolnshire. He trained for the Primitive Methodist ministry at Hartley College in Manchester and served in the British circuit ministry for eighteen years before going as a missionary to South Africa in 1910. He returned home in 1923 and after five years circuit ministry was appointed Missionary Secretary. Ayre continued in that position after union in 1932 until his retirement in 1939.

He spent the remainder of his life in Welwyn Garden City.
