Papers of Claude Wilson Wardlaw, Barker Professor of Cryptogamic Botany (1940-1960) and George Harrison Professor of Botany (1958-1966) at the University of Manchester.
Wardlaw was an international authority on diseases of the banana and one of the foremost researchers in the world on plant morphogenesis, the study of plant form. He acted as a consultant on tropical crop diseases to several companies.
His papers comprise typescripts and proofs of the monographs Banana Diseases (1935, revised 1961), Reflections on some Diseases and Pests of the Oil Palm (1965) and Organization and Evolution in Plants (1965); typescripts and proofs of several articles on morphogenesis; and an album of cytological illustrations.
