William West (1742-1822)
William West was born in Ireland. Converted at the age of seven, he entered the itinerancy in 1779. West exercised an active circuit ministry in Ireland, England and Scotland for thirty-eight years despite being totally blind for much of that time. Increasing ill health forced him to superannuate in 1817, although he continued to preach until a short time before his death.
West's son-in-law was the Wesleyan minister Thomas Bridgman.
