William Pemberton (1806-1851)
William Pemberton was born in Leeds, Yorkshire. He was converted at the age of 12 and entered the itinerancy in 1826. He exercised his circuit ministry in the Midlands, the North of England and the Isle of Man until his death, which occurred while he was stationed in the Newcastle upon Tyne circuit.
Pemberton's conference obituary refers to his staunch fidelity to Methodist discipline in the face of opposition. This indicates that he was involved in the various controversies and divisions that afflicted Methodism in the second quarter of the 19th century.
