Charles Greenwood (1725-1783)

Charles Greenwood was the son of an early member of the Foundery Society and one of a family which had intimate connections with London Methodism for over a century.

Greenwood was a close friend of John Wesley and John Fletcher used to stay with the Greenwood family when visiting the capital.

For many years he was in business as an upholsterer in Rood Lane and Fenchurch Street and served as one of the first trustees of City Road Chapel.

He was buried under the floor of the chapel in 1783 following a funeral service by John Wesley.
