Alexander Benjamin Greaves (1750-1834)

Alexander Benjamin Greaves was born in Hope, Derbyshire, the son of Charles Greaves.

He matriculated from St Edmund's Hall Oxford in 1775 and may also have entered Trinity College Cambridge the following year.

He was ordained in the Anglican Church and served a curacy in Stony Middleton, Derbishire, and Madeley in Shropshire, where he covered for the absense of John Fletcher in Switzerland between 1779 and 1780.

He died at Offerton Hall in Derbishire and is buried in his native village.
