John Ellison (1720-1791)
John Ellison was the son of the Wesley brothers' older sister Susanna and her husband Richard Ellison. He spent much of his life as an excise officer in Bristol and maintained close relations with his uncles until the end of their lives. Ellison was involved in the early 1740s with the school that was opened in connection with the New Room and may have been involved with other aspects of Methodist affairs in Bristol.
