John Chicheley (fl.1736)

John Chicheley was a resident of Boston, Massachusetts. A devout Anglican, Chicheley was introduced to Charles Wesley in September 1736 when Charles visited Boston on his return voyage to England from Georgia.

Charles was impressed with Chicheley's character and ability and on his return to England, recommended to the Bishop of London that he be ordained. The bishop indicated that his name would be forwarded to the Society for the Propogation for the Gospel.
