John Brown (1785-1867)

John Brown entered the Wesleyan itinerancy in 1807. After nine years in the home ministry, he was appointed to establish a Wesleyan mission on the West Indian island of St Domingo, where he remained for two years until he was 'compelled to retire in consequence of the riotous opposition of the natives, stimulated by the Romish priesthood.'

Brown returned to England and served circuits in the Channel Islands and England until superannuation in 1854.
