Joseph Lancaster Ball (1822-1901)
Joseph Lancaster Ball was born in Cheetham Hill, Manchester, the second son of the Wesleyan minister William Ball (1793-1824). He was educated at Manchester Grammar School and then went into business in Bradford. Ball entered the Wesleyan ministry in 1847 and exercised an active circuit ministry until ill health forced him to become a supernumary in 1878. He spent his last years in London at Blackheath and Dulwich.
