Thomson Byrom Collection

Date range: 17th-18th centuries

Records of the Byrom family of Kersal and Manchester, whose best known member is John Byrom (1692-1763), author of Christians Awake.

The collection comprises:

  • muniments of title relating to properties in Kersal and Salford and in the Market Place, Shambles and Deansgate areas of Manchester
  • several 17th- and early 18th-century wills
  • a marriage settlement of 1684
  • pedigrees of the Byroms of Byrom, the Byroms of Salford and the Byroms of Manchester
