The John Rylands Library is located on Deansgate in the heart of Manchester.

The main entrance to the building is just off Deansgate, in the modern extension to the library.

From Deansgate, walk along the side of the Historic Building to the main entrance.

How to find us

By Metroshuttle (free bus)

The easiest way to reach the library from Piccadilly, Oxford Road and Victoria railway stations is via the free Metroshuttle buses.

The number 1 Metroshuttle runs from the forecourt of Piccadilly station every few minutes. Alight on John Dalton Street at stop WX, turn left onto Deansgate and you will see the library in front of you.

The number 2 Metroshuttle runs from Victoria station every ten minutes. Alight on Deansgate, opposite the library.

By Metrolink tram

The nearest Metrolink tram stop is St Peter's Square, a seven minute walk.

Walking directions from the Metrolink

From St Peter's Square Metrolink Station, walk northwest on Princess Street / John Dalton Street until you reach Deansgate.

Turn left onto Deansgate and walk for approximately 100 metres.

The John Rylands Library will be on your right.

By car

The nearest NCP car parks are on Watson Street, New Quay Street and Blackfriars Street.

Accessible parking is available within central Manchester:

By bus

The nearest bus stops are on Deansgate and John Dalton Street.

Travelling from the University? The V1 and V2 (purple buses) leave the Students Union regularly and stop on John Dalton Street, close to the junction with Deansgate.

Stagecoach 197 leaves the Students Union at every 20 minutes and stops outside the Library on Deansgate.
