The University of Manchester Library

High Demand collection

The High Demand Collection (HD) holds books and other items recommended as essential texts on course reading lists by University teaching staff.

The collection is located in the Blue Area, Ground Floor of the Main Library.

The High Demand Collection is open-access to all University of Manchester Library users, but borrowing High Demand material is restricted to staff and students of The University of Manchester.

The High Demand Collection is a self-service area, offering facilities for self-issue and self-return of material at all times when the Library is open. The collection also houses two multifunctional devices which can be used to print, photocopy or scan material.

High Demand staff are keen to ensure that the collection is useful, and that all customers are able to use the collection successfully to find the information they need.

If you have any questions, comments or feedback about High Demand, please ask at the High Demand desk, where staff will be pleased to help - or use any of our feedback and enquiries channels.

Opening hours

The High Demand Collection is an open access area of the Library, meaning you can access the collection to consult, borrow and return material at all times when the Library is open. During semester, the High Demand desk is staffed between 8:30am - 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Opening hours may vary during mid-semester breaks and vacation; please see separate notices which will be displayed around the collection.

Please remember

The High Demand Collection can only function well if users abide by the rules and regulations, return books on time and keep the Collection tidy for others to use. Please help us to help you and your fellow students in providing the best possible service.
