Environmental Champions project
Together with project partners the Manchester Museum and Whitworth Art Gallery, the John Rylands University Library is engaged on a year long project, April 2008 - March 2009, is aimed at reducing their environmental impacts.
The projects objectives are to reduce energy consumption and waste production by raising the environmental awareness of staff and changing their behaviour.
Environmental consultants, Global Action Plan, are providing training and advice to teams of Environment Champions from the three institutions. The role of the Champions is, firstly, to audit the environmental impacts of their workplaces and, secondly, to develop strategies for reducing them.
