Alan Gilbert Learning Commons

The Alan Gilbert Learning Commons a world-class 21st century learning environment for the University of Manchester

Summer 2012 will see the launch of the new Alan Gilbert Learning Commons. 

A collaboration between partners across the University including the Directorate of Estates, Directorate of Teaching and Learning, IT Services and The John Rylands University Library; in consultation with representatives from the Students Union.

Managed by the John Rylands University Library, this landmark building is designed to become a focal point for learning offering a stimulating and comfortable 24/7 environment for study.

The space will offer a real variety of flexible individual and group study facilities as well as provide access to computers, scanning and printing facilities.

 

 

 

Who was Alan Gilbert?

The late Professor Alan Gilbert, after whom the Learning Commons is named, was the University’s inaugural President and Vice-Chancellor (2004-2010).
