The Joule Library holds major collections in science, engineering and technology. Management material is mainly held at the Precinct Library, part of Manchester Business School.

Opening hours
The last entry to the Library will be 15 minutes before the officially advertised closure time. This is to ensure that all customers can vacate the building safely and securely.
Access to the Library is by valid University of Manchester ID card.

The entrance to The Joule Library can be found on E floor of the Sackville Street Building (formerly the Main Building at UMIST).
Enter the building from Granby Row where you can take the lift or stairs to the Library.
Flexible study space
The newly refurbished F floor now provides a flexible study environment, including some fantastic retro seating areas.
There are 96 individual study spaces including 23 with PCs and a state-of-the-art group study room.
Thesis binding service
The thesis binding service re-opens at its new location in the Joule Library at 9.00am on Monday 11 June. It can be found on E Floor near the main staircase to F Floor.

These opening hours are for the service point only - the bindery does not work at weekends. In term time phone us on 0161 306 4916 after 5.30pm weekdays, or at weekends if you do not have a swipe-card to access the Sackville Street Building.

Other facilities
There are three self-service photocopiers, two black and white copiers and one colour copier. There is also a microfiche/microfilm reader/printer. These machines are all located on the Main Level (E Floor).
The Joule Library provides access to 55 networked PCs with CD rewriters and networked printing facilities.
