Caroline Riches is the Finance and Planning Manager for the University Library. Her main responsibility is to provide comprehensive management accounting support and financial advice to the University Librarian and Leadership Team. Caroline is also a member of the Library's Leadership Team contributes to the formulation of Library strategy, policy and decision-making.
Caroline graduated from Cardiff Business School in Accounting and Management, and was taken on as a graduate trainee at Rolls Royce Military Aerospace where she undertook the one year graduate programme in Commercial Business. During this time Caroline gained experience in contracts, pricing, sales and marketing and business development.
Whilst working at Rolls Royce Caroline started her professional qualification for the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). During her pre-qualification years, Caroline worked as the Management Accountant for the Service Engineers department and then she moved to be a Project Accountant for Fleet and Historical Engines which included engines such as the Viper, Conway, and Merlin for the Spitfire and Olympus for the Concorde.
In 2003, on qualifying, Caroline moved to Manchester to work for Citicards where she was the Operational Accountant for the UK call centre. She was involved in many projects including the opening up of their first call centres in India, the introduction of Chip and Pin and the merger of Diners Club Card UK franchise with Citicards.
Caroline is particularly interested in pursuing opportunities for external funding and commercial opportunities that are consistent with the University and Library’s strategy.
She has been in her current role since November 2011.
