Our Response

It’s really hard to find available study spaces.

Our Book a Space service allows individual study spaces to be booked both online and walk-up in the same way as our existing Group Study Room booking system, and can be accessed via the Library tab within My Manchester.

Look out for additional help during the Exam Extra period.

The AGLC should be open longer during the Summer vacation.

We kept the AGLC open until midnight during August in response to feedback.

The library sends us too many emails.

We will only contact you when you need to take action e.g. return a book on loan which has been requested.

The fines are too high.

We’ve extended loan periods and will only fine you if another library customer is being inconvenienced.

There aren’t enough water fountains in the Main Library.

Additional water fountains have been installed.

24 and 48 hour High Demand loans are confusing.

All High Demand books are now overnight loans.

Site libraries should stay open longer.

Site libraries will have extended hours through the January and May-June exam periods.

Library Search is unreliable.

We have made a number of changes to Library Search and will continue to work to improve the service provided to our customers. This will include, for example, ensuring that books held in the Library appear higher up results lists and improving labelling and layout to make Library Search more intuitive.

Additional online help and assistance is available.
